Ship Ahoy! Written by Nicky Andrews Logos Hope is on her way! OM’s largest ship is visiting six of the UK’s biggest ports between June and November 2026, her first visit here since her launch in 2009. Since then nearly 11 million people worldwide have visited this unique floating bookfair and mission hub, staffed by a volunteer international crew. Discover here why Zane Nel, Director of Mobilisation for OM in the UK, is so excited by Logos Hope’s arrival, and how you can help live out the vision for the ship’s tour: ‘raising a tide of faith and releasing waves of hope across our nation and beyond’. Nicky Andrews: What happens during a Logos Hope visit? Zane Nel: Wherever she docks in the world, the ship firstly demonstrates a beautiful multicultural community serving Jesus together, with a crew drawn from over 100 nations! Churches and individuals can visit the ship to meet the crew, bring guests to outreach events or serve as volunteers on board. There will be nights of worship and prayer, a host of cultural events and the huge on-board bookfair to browse. But equally, Logos Hope acts as an amazing catalyst for local believers to step up into God’s purposes. In every port, the international crew go ashore to serve alongside churches and Christian organisations as they share the love of Jesus amongst their local communities; these beautiful partnerships just seem to open so many hearts to the Lord! All these different opportunities challenge believers of every age and background to see an even bigger picture: God’s heart of love for everyone, from every nation. He’s doing amazing things right round the world! There are 3 billion people who have never heard about Jesus – let’s all discover the roles God has for us in reaching them. This upcoming visit by the Logos Hope to the UK is all about that – and it ties in so beautifully with how I sense God’s heart for this land…let me explain. Why is the ship’s visit here so significant? I’m from South Africa, and spent my 20s leading missions to over 60 countries, seeing Jesus set people free from sin and darkness – I’ve got so many stories about that! But on a visit here, I and my wife both had this wonderful sense from God about the UK’s amazing Christian heritage, all the tremendous people of faith who pioneered in missions, the revivals that have come and gone… ….and the Lord was saying to us, “that call hasn’t gone away!” and that He wants to tap into that beautiful redemptive core, raise up leaders and send them out into the world. We emigrated here in obedience to that, and since 2024 it’s been my privilege to serve as Director of Mobilising for OM in the UK. I and my colleagues come alongside churches, Bible colleges and organisations up and down the country; we’re thrilled to encourage people of every age and background to respond to God’s call to the nations, and facilitate their response. So, as Director of Mobilising, you can imagine how excited I am: the ship’s visits to ports in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland can energise thousands of UK believers into missions, both here in the UK itself and across the world! How can churches and individuals get involved with Logos Hope? Here’s where the ship will be, and when: London 18th June – 7th July Edinburgh 9th -21st July Aberdeen 21st July – 5th August Cardiff 10th-29th September Belfast 1st-21st October Liverpool 22nd October - 10th November In every port there will be loads going on, just like I said earlier! Please check out our website to see all the latest information on each port visit. For some opportunities, like volunteering on the ship, you’ll need to register your interest, so do sign up soon because places are limited. And if you’ve ever served with OM, we’d love to hear from you and get reconnected. And if your church wants to partner with Logos Hope crew members in sharing the love of Jesus with people living in these port cities – get in touch now to find out how! Meanwhile, if you’re able to consider supporting the ship’s visit financially, that would be greatly appreciated, and you can do this via our website. But above all else, please pray that God will be glorified in everything and His purposes fulfilled. In the words of our tagline, may He be ‘raising a tide of faith and releasing waves of hope across our nation and beyond’. Manage Cookie Preferences
