Ministry Details

This year, we offer three tracks:

    1. STEP INTO MENA  For those not yet sure how and where to serve the people from MENA. 

    2. STEP INTO MENA ARTS  For those seeking training in serving the people from MENA by using the Arts.

    3. STEP INTO CNA  for those with previous experience serving among the people from MENA, interested in joining our field for a minimum of 2 years.

During the 1st month, trainees will study the local dialect and receive basic training for service among the least reached in MENA, coached by experienced trainers. 

In the 2nd month, artists receive specialised training and coaching from experienced international artists, followed by a time of engaging in creative art projects in partnership with local artists. 

Other trainees will go deeper into developing their language and cultural understanding, friendship making and local travels..

During the 3rd month, trainees will receive mentoring while engaging deeper in their area of interest- arts, church planting, language etc.

We pray that those who complete the training will: 

·         -Have a passion for reaching the least reached from the MENA region.

·         -Have basic skills for intercultural understanding in a North African Muslim context. 

·         -Have begun learning a local Arabic dialect and developed some basic vocabulary.

·         -Have a basic toolkit for sharing their faith with their Muslim neighbours. 

·         -Have learned basic principles for discipling Muslim seekers and starting vibrant communities of Jesus followers. 

·         -Have made many friends with the least reached, especially with people of a similar community (artists, students, business, sports, youth, retirees etc.) 

Participant Profile

We are looking for trainees who are well grounded in their Christian faith and have already undergone basic discipleship training either in their home church, at a Bible school or another discipleship training programme.

Participants must have a sense of calling to the peoples of the MENA region. Be self-motivated, teachable and able to meet and make new friends.

Artists will be given a link to our artist-specific application. Depending on your artistic discipline, we will assign an artistic assessor to look through your application/portfolio.

Due to the limited number of places, applicants will be chosen by the team of trainers. As we will be performing interviews and approving applications as we receive them, we encourage you to let us know of your interest as soon as possible.

Accommodation

Participants will live in rented accommodation together with other participants of the same gender.  Couples will be housed in their own apartments. 

Food

With help from the trainers, participants will be responsible for buying and preparing their own food together with their housemates or as a larger group. The cost of the food is included in the budget for the programme. Please inform us if you have any dietary restrictions. 

Travel

The participant is responsible for travel to and from the country, as well as travel insurance. All costs of travel within country that fall under the STEP programme are included in the budget. 

Health

The participants must be in good health, have a tolerance to the stresses of cross cultural living, and be able to walk for longer stretches. 

Visa

Details will be given upon acceptance. 

Notes 

Individuals applying must be 18 or over. 

Price excludes flights, insurance, visa & any possible vaccinations and is subject to change according to the exchange rate.

It is highly recommended you attend OMUK’s Getting into Gear weekend (GiG) held in the May or October before you go which is a time of training and preparation. This is an additional cost of £75. Please enquire for details.

As part of our Safeguarding policy, you may require a valid enhanced DBS certificate, which may cost an additional £15.
